A touch of 'silliness' during a 'time' of more disaster on this side of the world.
Yesterday a 6.3 earthquake hit Christchurch in the South Island of NZ, (I am in the North Island) so far there are 38 confirmed fatalities, many people are missing and 20 hours later some can still be heard amongst the rubble. The centre of Christchurch has been described like the London blitz of WW11. It was only last September when the same area experienced a 7.1, but there was no loss of life, this quake was more shallow and occurred during lunchtime on a working day and aftershocks are still being felt.

Posted a note on your post "BLOGGER Grrrrrrrrr" yesterday.
ReplyDeleteWe are all thinking of our neighbours at this very tragic time.
Special thoughts to you and your countrymen.
We seemed to be glued to the telly as well...feel so useless when things like this happen!
ReplyDeleteTake care my friend.
There have been so many earth rumblings in the past year, haven't there? So sorry for the tragic event, but I'm glad you are safe.
ReplyDeleteI think a little silliness now and then relieves the tension. This piece is good.
I am so sorry to hear about the earthquake there Judy - so glad you are all right!( We are very sensitive here in the San Francisco Bay Area to earthquakes)!. Your art piece is so elegant and creative- always a joy to visit and see your works of art. Take care!

Judy I'm so sorry and be sure that here in France I immediately think to you. Hope everything is ok.
ReplyDeleteYour art piece is fantastic
Pat
Great entry, Judy. I just watched news of the dreadful earthquake in Christchurch. Along with Glenys, my thoughts are with New Zealand.
ReplyDeleteI love your art piece. I was just watching the news here in the US about the NZ earthquake, hoping none of my art blog friends were affected. So sad... I'm glad you're OK.
ReplyDeleteI was shocked re the earthquake. I am enjoying your interpretation.
ReplyDeleteJudy I was so sad to hear this on our newscast tonight. I will keep you all in my prayers. I live in quake country myself so I know how scary it can be with just a small tremor and wondering when the big one will strike. I'm glad you are okay.
ReplyDeleteAs far as your fantastic art goes I can sum up in three words... I love it!!!
My thoughts and hopes for all in New Zealand…
ReplyDeleteYour art piece is wonderful and did make me laugh, that statement is often so true.

Please know that I am thinking of you and all the people of your country. Here in the DEEp south we don't get earthquakes, just tornados, but I've never personally had to experience anything like this.
ReplyDeleteYour entry this week is beautiful, as is your entire blog. I always somenjoy my visits here!
We are also watching the horror of the earthquake, here in Canada. Our thoughts are with you.
ReplyDeleteJudy, your piece is STUNNING!

ReplyDeleteWow I´ve missed my words Judy. Absolutely beautiful.
so devastating, all the loss of lives and such a beautiful city destroyed. I well remmeber our time in Christchurch that splendid cathedral, the square.
ReplyDeleteyou created a very humurous picture there . love it.
I'm glad that you're safe, but my thoughts are with the persons in the south of New Zealand. The photos on TV look terrible.
ReplyDeleteYour digital collage looks beautiful as ever.
In the midst of horrendous news, we have the comfort of blocking out the world to create art.
ReplyDeleteLove your black and white headache!
Dear Judy, my thoughts and prays are with NZ people. Your Art is, as usual, amazing.
ReplyDeleteI think a little silliness is called for at the moment Judy, though, I wouldn't call this silliness but rather an inspired piece of artwork. It is absolutely stunning.
ReplyDeleteIt was just about a year since we were in Christchurch with our little campervan and it is so sad to know that this lovely city is now so devastated BUT of course that is nothing to the loss of life and suffering being experienced there at the moment. My thoughts are with you all.
I first saw your entry and laughed, it's too funny, and then I read the news, Oh, how terrible!! It's horrible and I'm so sorry to hear about the earthquake. Thank God you're allright. I can't imagine what it must be like to experiance such horror... My thoughts are with all Newzealanders. Take care my friend,
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Linda
Terrible catastophe Judy ! je suis désolée pour votre pays et pour toutes les victimes.
ReplyDeleteEn espérant que vous n'êtes pas touchée ni vos proches je vous souhaite beaucoup de courage.
Amitiés Mary.KG
I saw it on the news Judy and my second thougt was about you !!! You're the only one I know a little bit and who lives there.
ReplyDeleteMy first thoughts went out to my
brother and his wife who are on vacation in your country. We have not heard of them :(
We know they were making a tour, but don't know exactly where they are right know.
They make a big trip every year to a continent and never call home.
But in this case !!! Our mother is so worried.
But however...I'm so glad you are oké !!!
Wow, this is a super entry for the subject, and the quote is sooo funny
ReplyDeletecheers
Janine
I had a feeling you were North Island Judy, although that doesn't make it better for anyone in Christchurch. It really is awful and I hope and pray that more people are found alive...
ReplyDeleteHowever, I LOVE your moments of silliness - thay are so very Judy! Great work as always my friend. xx

ReplyDeleteJudy, Good news !!!
ReplyDeleteThey called last night to our elder brother !!
Pfffff.
They were near to Christchurch when they felt the quake. I don't now in which city but the people there told them not to travel in that direction.
Where they are right now I do not know because they constantly travel around but at least we now know they are safe !
Our mother was so relieved !!!
I want to thank you for the red cross phone number. Thank God we don't have to call now !
It was touching to read your message with your help.
You are such a sweet friend Judy!!
